The storm was terrible: Sailors
The storm was terrible, nothing like it before that we had ever experienced.
As usual, one fine day we set out to sea plying the trade routes of the world. The wind blew gently stirring up the sea waves softly against our ship as we sailed beautifully along.
Before we knew it, the waves became very strong and our ship was tossed high into the sky and down we plunged into the depths of the sea. We were terrified, reeling and staggering about the ship deck like drunkards as we scrambled to safety.
In an endless succession, the waves tossed our ship up and down, plunging us hard back into the sea. We cringed holding tightly onto whatever was in reach to save our life but we came to our wits end.
The storm was terrible
In desperation, we cried out “Lord help us”. After hours of deep trouble at sea, we observed the power of the Lord in action. The storm calmed to a whisper and the waves stilled, it was almost unbelievable, everything returned to normal just as we had set off in the beginning. The stillness of the sea was a fantastic blessing and we didn’t have to turn back, instead the Lord brought us safely to harbor.
The storm was terrible but the Lord saved us from our distress as we cried out to him for help.
My Encouragement to You
What is your storm today? It could be the waves of the sea or the waves of life generally. Cry out the Lord in prayer saying “Lord, Help me” and he shall save you from your distress just as he saved us.
“Lord Help” they cried in their trouble and he saved them from their distresses.
Psalm 107: 13 New Living Translation
Our testimony of God’s unfailing great love for us and for the wonderful things he did for us when the terrible storm came against us at sea is recorded in the book of Psalms chapter 107 from verses 23 to 30. Below is an excerpt;
Some went off to sea in ships plying the trade routes of the world. They too soon observed the Lord’s power in action, his impressive works on the deepest seas. He spoke and the winds rose stirring up the waves.
Their ships were tossed to the heavens and plunged again to the depths; the sailors cringed in terror. They reeled and staggered like drunkards and were at their wits end.
“Lord Help”, they cried in their trouble and he saved them from their distress.
He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled h waves.
What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor.
